Pugh Demands Answers for Commonwealth Contract Termination
December 10, 2025
LUZERNE – Rep. Brenda Pugh (R-Luzerne) today issued the following statement regarding the debacle that is ensuing after a state vendor responsible for delivering the Commonwealth’s pre-sort mail was terminated for not performing its job, resulting in thousands of Pennsylvanians not receiving their mail in a timely manner, if at all.
“When we discovered an increase in our constituents asking for help with state-related paperwork, such as driver’s license renewals, vehicle registrations and licenses, I immediately started asking questions and learned that the Department of General Services (DGS) ended a state contract with a vendor not performing its duties,” Pugh said. “While I am grateful DGS terminated the contract, many questions remain as to the timing between when the issues were discovered and, ultimately, when the contract was terminated.”
Pugh issued a letter to DGS Secretary Reggie McNeil asking for answers, including who discovered the issue, when the issue was discovered and what caused the ultimate failure. Pugh is also asking which agency will lead an investigation and the steps to be put in place to mitigate any damage this may cause to constituents.
“I expect a thorough review will take place to determine the extent of the collateral damages that could occur for Pennsylvanians, and that state agencies will do the right thing for those caught up in this mess,” Pugh added.
Any residents expecting something from the state that has not arrived in a timely manner should call Pugh’s office at 570-283-1001.
